In terms of my interactions/encounters/realizations about attractive members of the opposite gender, today was surprisingly productive. This perhaps sounds oddly put, but i shall explain.
First of all, bright and early this morning, i casually walked through campus center, not looking for anyone in particular. All of a sudden, i look up and there he is. He who has been the subject of some of my latest writings, namely my Boy Scout Mission. However, this was far from a delightful sighting since he was holding hands with a girl, who i will presume to be his girlfriend. i hope he doesn't just hold random girls' hands to throw off his numerous adoring freshman fans (not that i would know anything about this). But worse than his holding hands with potential/current/whatever female companion was his outfit. To me, there is nothing more telling about a person than his outfit. This probably sounds ridiculously shallow, but i cannot help myself from making all sorts of judgments and assumptions about various individuals based on their choice of clothing and accessories. Anyway, he was wearing a yellow shirt. Not just any yellow shirt, but a bright, dizzying bumble bee, radiant egg yolk kind of yellow. But that was not all. He was wearing shoes that were just as nauseatingly yellow as his shirt. Maybe it just suits his sense of style to be mistaken for an over-sized banana for Sasquatch consumption. If he wants to be banana boy, who am i to stop him? i just wish that i had never cared for him now that i know of his dehydrated urine-colored wardrobe. That fascination is so dead and gone.
Later today i had my tutoring session with the hot tutor. Last week, i signed up for a tutoring session with him in Religion, which proved to be much more exciting than i had initially imagined. When i signed up for tutoring, i had no idea that i would be miraculously placed into the hands of such a dreamy and scholarly tutor. But there i was, standing awkwardly in front of the tutoring desk. And there he was, walking through the library doors, smiling with a beauty that can only be rivaled by the setting sun, long hair framing his incandescent face, holding a skateboard, a clear indicator of his incendiary physique and even more illuminating religious insights. As soon as he appeared before me, i had a feeling that i would be needing religious guidance much more in the future. As we started our session, it became very clear that he knew little about Hinduism. Actually, he knew nothing about Hinduism. The most he could tell me about the Aranyakas was that they were "forest people shruti," which, as you can imagine, was far from helpful. However, he seemed convinced that he was aiding me in my journey to moksha with his incredibly lacking understanding of Hindu texts. I have no problem with this though, since i can see that he clearly tried hard to make some sense out of atman and brahman for the sake of my educational future.
Anyway...back to today...
My tasty tutor informed me via email that he would be conducting an Economics tutoring session and that i was welcome to attend. Of course, it would be absolutely ludicrous to resist this luscious opportunity, sixty minutes in heaven, gazing at his lovely features. This was simply an offer i couldn't resist. So there i was, sitting in the library with the most stunning view. There's no view on the whole island of Oahu that can match what i had before me. There was a poetic grace to everything he did: the way he drew those supply and demand curves so straight and sexy, the way he swore when the chalk broke in his capable hands, the way he talked about gross domestic product in such smooth rhythm--he was truly poetry in motion. Unfortunately, since i am so shy, i hardly said a word during the lesson, which meant that this smart and gorgeous Chinese girl beside me stole his attention. Regardless, i can accept this, hearing him talk Economics like a dirty little secret.
Anyway...gosh, i get distracted when i type about him.
The session ended quickly and before i left, he said, "See ya, Sara." He called me by name and my breath left me. i could only squeak out a "Thank you," and then i ran out the door, terrified and exhilarated by hearing my name spoken by someone i so respected and admired.
On the way back from dinner, i received a facebook friend request from him and we are now officially facebook friends. i expect nothing more from these tutoring sessions and facebook friendship, but let's just say that i'm happy for the time being with the way things are.
And lastly...
This might seem to be a backwards step in my progression, but it is a part, nonetheless. i told my roommate about how one of the RA's is extremely good-looking, and there he was, sitting at the front desk. He was poring over some papers, look studious and charming in his bespectacled mode of intensity. i did not want to break his concentration, so walked quickly past him, without uttering a sound. It was after this when my roommate scolded me for not saying hi. i am not quite at that level yet, but i'm working on it.
