Hello, blog

It seems i haven't posted/written a blog in approximately five geological ice ages. That's kind of a long time to remain in hibernation, so i'll enjoy these few minutes of liberty from educational constraints as much as i possibly can. School has seemed impossible for the past two or so weeks. God's keeping me grounded, for the most part.

There's a new addition to my concert listing: Underoath w/ We Battle On and Onesteplife at Pipeline Cafe. Best concert of my life.

While perusing Thrice's blog, i learned that they have taken up knitting. This elates me, since i now have a bond (covalent, haha) with them due to our common love for knitting. Although i was closer to them (physically, since i was close enough to see their sweat consume their clothing in a rather feverish manner, and spiritually--i was feeling the music as it was performed, which is basically the sickest feeling ever) at their concert, we are now tighter than a triple coordinate covalent bond (forgive my Chemistry references--science is my ruination) because of this knitting thing. Thrice are absolute beasts of creativity; they have Midas minds (everything they think turns to/equates to some element of radiant luster). Hence, they are one of my favorite bands of life.

Last Saturday (i had absolutely no time to write about this until now) i got a new, spiffy purple iPod nano! It (more like he) is appropriately named Akira (i will plainly admit that i have a crush the size of Jupiter on Yamapi, and anything Yamapi-related. i would most likely bid an obscene amount of money on ebay if one of his used wads of tissues was up for auctioning. Anyway, his character in Nobuta wo Produce was named Akira.) and he is a beautiful little sliver (it is seriously a sliver; i could swallow it in one gulp) of Apple technology. My father would surely burn me at the stake for making such a pro-Mac sentiment, but all the subliminal messaging in television shows has really gotten to me--Mac rules.

Recently--like, this week--i have become enamored with severely different musicians. Deas Vail, Lydia, Alison Krauss (& Robert Plant, of course. Pure genius.), Copeland, Brighten, and Brand New. i've always been fond of these artists, but i am currently freakishly obsessed with them. i'm also digging the occasional, healthy dose of Leona Lewis, Gatsby's American Dream, Forgive Durden, and Oasis. Most of the time i dig anything Anberlin, unless it's "Younglife" or "Alexithymia" (don't ask me why, i just end up hating only one song on all of their records) i'm always into The Rocket Summer, Jimmy Eat World, This Providence, Forever the Sickest Kids, Underoath, Thrice, and Acceptance. The Beatles go without saying. They are beyond the mere level on which this...thought(?) takes place. Anyway, there's some pretty cool new music going on that i like rather much: Razia's Shadow-Forgive Durden, You Are My Sunshine-Copeland, and Dig Out Your Soul-Oasis. i haven't gotten that much into my This Providence Bright Lights EP just yet. Not for any particular reason except for maybe because i listened to "Waste Myself" a billion times on their myspace before i actually got the EP. Now, i just don't want to hear it all that much. But it's a great song, and they're a great band. i think i just need more tracks to hold me over--i am impatiently waiting for their full-length.

i want to develop a more sophisticated taste in music. i mean, i will continue to love Forever the Sickest Kids and i will always wear this stupid grin when i see a picture of All Time Low in their underwear, eating bananas, but i want to grow up a little (musically, as well as mature-wise, i suppose). Mature musicians (like Tim and Spencer from Underoath, haha) like Radiohead and Sigur Ros. They're probably attempting to control their upchuck reflexes whenever they hear the name "Forever the Sickest Kids" (but i severely hope not, because i would then be suffering with some major identity crises); they prefer the sophisticated sounds of In Rainbows and Med Sud blah blah etc. i desire to have these same mature tastes (i like said bands, but i so often prefer a cute pop-punk/alternative band sporting shaggy hair and scuffed Converse), and to just be...musically eclectic. i tried to expand by listening to At the Drive-in (a band Aaron Gillespie apparently likes). They are...interesting, to say the least. i can't get too excited over it just yet, but maybe one day i'll fall irrevocably in love with the sound of discordance and weird, wailing vocals. There's a good reason this band is popular honey, you just haven't thought of it yet (i officially allow all Panic at the Disco fans to skewer me with toothpicks for making such a dumb/lame reference to that song).

well, it's late, and for the most part, i'm tired. 'Night.
